Accommodations vary depending on the species of western big game you are pursuing and which season you are hunting.

All of the elk hunting is done out of a modern lodge on the property you will be hunting. It has most of the amenities of home and is nothing short of spectacular. Cabins are supplied with linens and cleaned daily. The view from the numerous decks is breath taking and you start hunting from the time you leave the lodge every morning. We do have deer hunts out of here also.

The other deer hunts are conducted out of ranch style homes. Some are more “rustic”” than others. All have electricity and are comfortable. If sleeping bags are needed, we will tell you.

The food in all of our camps is good Western home cooking. There is always more than enough and everyone really enjoys it. If you have special dietary needs, just let us know and we will work around it.

Powder Horn Outfitters has a strong belief that the atmosphere around camp is a major part of any hunting trip. We keep the mood light and try to assure everyone is having an enjoyable experience. These moments in camp are priceless and will be remembered every time you look back through your pictures or the exceptional trophy mounted on your wall.

Additional costs that are not included in the Hunt Fee

  • Non-resident hunting license to begin the hunt
  • Airline tickets and motel room when you arrive in Sheridan, WY
  • Cost of processing meat by Processing Plant or Taxidermist

Items you will need to bring

As you will see in our Showcase, the terrain and weather can very greatly. The type of clothing you bring can depend on the hunt you go on and the time of year. But here are the basics:

Rifle and ammunition (243 caliber or larger, sighted for 300 yards)

Fluorescent orange jacket or coat

Hunting boots (leather and waterproof a must!) Two pair is a good idea, one insulated for cold weather and one normal weight. If bringing only one pair, be prepared for cold, wet weather

Bring warm clothing, layers are best, as they can be shed away.
